Stocked Pantry = Simple Meals

Most of the meals I cook are made from staple ingredients that I keep in the pantry all the time. Without them, preparing homemade meals wouldn’t be…well…simple. And, as any busy family knows, if the meal ain’t simple, then it’s a meal that ain’t made.
A girl can dream….

Here are the top 25 staple ingredients in my pantry (we’ll assume you have salt & pepper already):

  1. All-Purpose Flour
  2. Baking Powder
  3. Baking Soda
  4. Cornstarch
  5. Granulated Sugar
  6. Light Brown Sugar
  7. Canola Oil
  8. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  9. Onion Soup Mix
  10. Italian Seasoning
  11. Dried Parsley
  12. Cinnamon
  13. Cumin
  14. Chili Powder
  15. Petite Diced Tomatoes
  16. Tomato Paste
  17. Tomato Sauce
  18. Chicken Broth
  19. Beef Broth
  20. Cream of Mushroom Soup
  21. Cream of Celery Soup
  22. Worcestershire Sauce
  23. Italian Bread Crumbs
  24. Chipotle Rub
  25. Montreal Steak Seasoning

Obviously there are more items then just these in my pantry, but these are the ones that I replace most often because they are SO useful. If you’re at a loss for what to stock up on, try starting here. You’ll find you can do a lot with just these 25 on hand.

Seriously. This one really caught my eye, but the pantry I’m most in love with is Ina Garten’s from “Barefoot Contessa.” One day…. :)
