Gwyneth’s Cookbook

Last updated on December 7, 2016 by Liza Hawkins

“In the last 10 years or so, cooking has become my main ancillary passion in life.”

While I, too, enjoy cooking – and it has become a passion of mine within the past 10 years – this quote is not mine.

It’s Gwyneth’s. You know…Gwyneth Paltrow. The actress, turned singer, turned dancer, turned…domestic goddess and cook extraordinaire?

Yup. I stumbled across an article on Independent.ie the other day that talked about Gwyneth releasing her much anticipated cookbook (first announced nearly two years ago): My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family and Togetherness.

Initially I scoffed.

Really Gwyneth? A cookbook? I’ll never buy that.

But then I read the article, and now I want it. Even with its hints of macrobioticness (is that a word?).

Plus, I love Mario Batali, and he thinks enough of her to not only write Gwyneth’s cookbook forward, but also to tour Spain with her, on a hunt for wonderful recipes and unique experiences.

I’ve talked myself into buying it, and it wasn’t difficult to do. I’ve also decided to read through their travel blog through Spain. I’m not sure how I missed that in 2008, but I’m glad to have stumbled upon it now.

Hi, I'm Liza — a self-proclaimed word-nerd who loves getting lost in whimsical stories and epic movies. I have laid-back, practical attitude towards life and am always on the hunt for good eats, easy recipes, binge-worthy shows, relaxing road trip destinations, the perfect fizzy gin cocktail, and time to finish my novel!

  1. I live in the U.K and have not yet come across this book or heard of Gwyneth releasing a cookbook, though she did appear on a U.K food show early this year.

I will have to flick through the book to see if it will tempt me, but thanks for planting the seed in my head now – I may just have to pick it up too.

    Happy Holidays.

  2. She’s pretty intriguing – people seem to love her or hate her. I happen to love her…she’s good at just about everything she tries. 🙂 You’ll have to come back and let me know what you think if you buy it!
