Luckily it’s easy to find a range of tasty BBQ sauces these days at most grocery stores, and you can even buy BBQ sauce online or from favorite local restaurants.

Options range from few and simple at ALDI (my favorite), to a range of organic and specialty recipes at stores like Safeway, Wegmans, Hy-Vee, Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s (all of which I also love, but aren’t always convenient for everyone).

Sometimes I make my own BBQ sauce for recipes, which (by the way) isn’t difficult.

Easy Slow Cooker Pork BBQ

The inspiration for this easy slow cooker pork BBQ came one morning when I had an extra ten minutes before we needed to leave for school and work — a miracle, I know.

I had a lovely pork roast sitting in my fridge from the weekend’s grocery shopping trip. And a bottle of BBQ sauce in the pantry.

HELLO DINNER!

I coated the pork roast with garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Then, I dumped about a quarter of the jarred BBQ sauce into the bottom of my slow cooker, set the roast on top (fat side up), then coated the roast with all of the remaining sauce, covered my slow cooker and set it for nine hours on low.

That’s. It.

When I got home from work I used two forks to break the roast apart into pulled pork, and then I let it sit for a while in the BBQ sauce and juices while I prepared the other things to go along with it.

Ingredients

  • 1 2- to 3-pound pork roast
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 14-ounce (ish) jar BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. Pour 1/4 of the BBQ sauce into the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Coat the entire pork roast with the garlic powder, salt and pepper. Set it into the slow cooker, fat side up.
  3. Pour the remaining BBQ sauce on top of the pork roast, making sure it's covered on all sides.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it on low for 9 hours.
  5. Use 2 forks to pull the pork apart and shred it, right in the slow cooker.
  6. Give the pulled pork a stir to evenly coat it with the BBQ sauce and juices.

Notes

Let the shredded pork sit on warm in the slow cooker while you make the rest of your dinner. Serve with buns or by itself.

If your slow cooker has an automatic "warm" setting after the cooking time is up, it's okay to let the pork roast sit for a while before you pull it apart (like if the 9 hours of cooking time is up before you get home from work).

    1. Hi. I made this with a 3 lb and a 2 lb pork roast. I basically doubled the spices. I hope that’s okay. I just pray it’s not too salty.
